Safety, Monitoring and Pain Management
Every pet must undergo a pre-surgical exam and possible blood work to evaluate their health. By checking for underlying issues and measuring blood and organ values, we can minimize health risks.
During surgery, each pet will be placed under general anesthesia and receive intravenous (IV) fluids. We use sevoflurane anesthetic, which is the safest inhalant for pets. A technician will monitor your pet's heart, respiration, and oxygen levels throughout the surgery. In most cases, surgery patients will go home with their owners in the afternoon. However, if your pet requires extra care and support, we would be glad to keep them overnight with us.
All pets receive appropriate pain control before, during and after their surgery. We may also send home oral pain relief medication to help your pet recover more comfortably.
